We finally have a date. 16th October, 2015. That is the day when the new iPhone 6S and the iPhone 6S Plus will be made available in the Indian market, and yes, this exciting piece of news has been officially confirmed by Apple!
The Apple iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S plus went on sale on 25th September in the US, the UK, Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, New Zealand, Puerto Rico, Singapore. Apple has already recorded a huge sale in its first weekend – a whooping 13 million smartphones (and counting) – thus breaking its previous records in the process. Last year, Apple had sold approximately 10 million units of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus at the end of the first three days since it went on sale. An increased sale of 30% in the first three days over a year highlights Apple’s steady growth and increasing market.
The iPhone 6S and the iPhone 6S Plus will go on sale in more than 40 additional countries starting from 9th and 10th October. Apart from India, October 16th will see the unveiling of these two iPhones in Malaysia and Turkey as well. Both the iPhone 6S and the iPhone 6S Plus will be made available in more than 130 countries by the end of 2015.
This will be the fastest case of roll out by the US tech giant in India, with the two new devices being made available in India in less than a month – 21 days to be exact. There’s hardly any doubt regarding the fact that this strategy has been made to boost sales in the Indian market in the upcoming festive season. Nevertheless, you won’t find us complaining! We are highly excited to get our hands on the coveted devices as soon as possible!
With the devices being powered by the Apple A9 chip, we are promised faster performance and great battery life. Running on iOS 9, more powerful search and improved Siri Features are things we are looking forward to. Both the 6S and the 6S Plus have the same screen dimensions as their predecessors, i.e., the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus. The improved design factors include a stronger glass and a 7000 series Aluminum body.
A better camera spec of 12 MP/5 MP rear-front camera duo, with the added camera feature of Live Photos, which will convert still images to short videos, has kept us intrigued. But the feature we are most excited to explore is the new 3D Touch, which will perform different activities based on how deeply we press the display. Count on Apple to develop something that truly sounds mind-blowing!
As concerns the color variants, the 6S and the 6S Plus will be available in a new Rose Gold shade, apart from the regular Silver, Gold and Space Gray hues.
The pricing for the Indian market has not yet been disclosed by Apple, but we expect to get an official update on that front some time close before 16th October.
Now all we can do is wait, watch and speculate!
